7 Ways Your Out-Of-Date Website Is Hurting Your Horse Business

An old horse may be a cherished and valued friend. An old website on the other hand can be a serious burden.

Here are 7 ways your older website is negatively affecting your business.

1. Out-of-date information. I can’t tell you how many websites I’ve been too and the foal crop they are highlighting is from several years past. New website tools offer an easy way to keep your website current and filled with information about your program.

2. Poor user experience: An outdated design can make it difficult for users to navigate your website, find the information they need, and complete tasks. This can lead to frustration and a negative experience that reflects onto your company.

3. Low credibility: An outdated design can make your website look unprofessional and untrustworthy. This can make users less likely to engage with your website. Personally, when I see an old stable website, I know I’m going to have to do some digging to see if they are even still open. This can’t be the impression you’re looking for…

4. Decreased traffic: Bounce rates from websites that aren’t kept current can reach 92%!! That means someone is opening your site, and leaving almost immediately simply because it looks old.  This can obviously contribute to decreased traffic and overall engagement.

5. Limited functionality: Outdated website builds are usually not mobile-friendly and aren’t compatible with modern devices and browsing preferences. This again limits traffic and overall engagement.

6. Decreased Web Accessibility For Impaired Users. This isn’t an absolute, but many older websites simply aren’t built for users with disabilities, impairments, and limitations. Unfortunately, older horse websites tend to have busy backgrounds and high-vibrating colors used for text, both of which can be especially bad for users.

7. Poor search engine rankings: Search engines like Google take website design and user experience into consideration when ranking websites. An outdated design can negatively affect your search engine rankings and make it harder for users to find your website and your business!

Overall, an old and outdated website can harm your site’s effectiveness and lead to decreased traffic, engagement, and credibility.
