These pieces of a website aren’t essential for your stallion, but I have found them beneficial. They simply offer a way for mare owners to become more invested in your stallion and your program.
1 – PEDIGREE PAGE
Notice that I’ve written the word “page”. Don’t try and shove all this information on the homepage. The bonus of a pedigree page is that you’re not simply listing the horses in your stallion’s background you are offering a deep dive into the pedigree. You can show images, video and offer a history on all the big players.
2 – PHOTO AND VIDEO GALLERY
It never hurts to have a place for people to fall deeply in love with your stallion. Having an extra page that you can fill with photos and videos is a great way for people to become further convinced your stallion is the one for their mare.
3 – BREED HISTORY
When I was first looking into doing Irish crosses with my mare, websites that taught me something about the deep and rich history of the breeds were an absolute treat! It has the additional benefit of letting me know that this stallion owner really knows their stuff! It sends a clear signal that this is no backyard breeder.
4 – BREEDING PROGRAM
I think it’s safe to say that most breeders have a slightly different philosophy to their program. Having a page or even just a small section on your about page that describes what you focus on and what is most important to you when you selected or bred your stallion can be helpful. You are offering both logical reasons for people to feel good about and offering further proof of expertise as a quality breeder.
